TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Founder/CTO/Sr. Network Engineer: Internet Inventions, Palo Alto, CA (1999-2003).
Oversee daily operation of local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN). Troubleshoot and repair desktop and laptop computers, printers, modems and peripherals. Also managed business development and engineering teams from various companies that we assisted.
- Install and update software on all computers, ensure error-free backup of data on file servers, install wiring (data and fiber optic) and phone wiring as needed.
- Maintain routers and other WAN-specific equipment to ensure network reliability.
- Manage multiple web based projects and currently service 100+ domains and web servers.
- Maintain telephone system at Palo Alto office. Includes adding and deleting office extensions, wiring new offices and voice mail administration.
VP Technical Operations: ISPChannel Corp.(NASDAQ – SOFN), Mt. View, CA (1998-1999).
As Vice President of Technical Operations I managed a staff of 50 engineers and technicians supporting dozens of Cable operators nationwide.
- During my tenure at the ISP Channel, I budgeted, designed & built the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Data facility to accommodate 1 million customers for the ISPChannel. I did it in record time (90 days) and on budget.
- I migrated the ISP Channel’s network infrastructure from an Ascend to Cisco Networks Platform.
- I was also a key figure in raising $180MM in financing. I was technical advisor and presenter on road trip.
- I was very hands on and was the last layer of support for severe network outages.
- Due to excellent performance, I received a pay increase of over $20,000 per year within 90 days of hire. I also received 40,000 additional stock options.
Sr. Network Engineer: Netscape (NYSE – AOL), Mt. View, CA (1994-1998).
At Netscape, I was responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of the internal as well as the external network, system and server infrastructure..
- Provided technical support and recommendations on equipment/software as required.
- Also worked in Network Operations Dept., troubleshooting networking gear and making necessary repairs or upgrades to equipment.
- Organized and moved entire company from 20K sq. ft. facility to 200K sq. ft. campus.
- Was given additional shares before IPO due to superior performance.
- Was trusted to provide technical service to the executive staff in their personal residence’s nation wide. (e.g. Jim Clark, Jim Barksdale, Mike Homer etc.)
Founder/ SVP Network Engineering: Internet Systems Inc. (NYSE – GX) – Sunnyvale, CA (1994-1996)
As founding SVP Engineering, I was responsible for designing, implementing & maintaining the ISI Network infrastructure. I managed and negotiated vendor relationships. Grew the network from single T1 to multi-homed DS3 networks. This was an off-hours project.
- Managed customers such as Yahoo!, Netscape, Playboy & Pac Bell Interactive.
- Grew from 300sq ft. single room facility to 3 buildings with over 20,000 sq. ft. of data center capacity
- Sold company to Global Crossing.
Sr. Network Engineer: Silicon Graphics Inc., (NYSE – SGI) Mt. View, CA (1992-1994).
I designed, deployed and maintained much of Silicon Graphics internal backbone and frame relay infrastructure.
- Spearheaded ISDN Everywhere project that produced 500+ users in six months. Featured article in Network World. Many tele-commute programs were modeled after mine.
- Member of ISDN working group.
- Serviced executive staff in their personal residence’s nation wide.
- Coordinated and implemented 12 moves of regional sales offices.
NOC Mgr./Account Mgr./ Sr. Network Engineer: Teknon Corp.,(Privately Held) Cupertino, CA (1989-1992)
At Apple Computer my team and I supported the 48 bay area buildings that Apple had at that time. This meant all installation and troubleshooting of all networking as well as phone systems. We had the highest rating of completed trouble tickets for an IT group in company history.
- At Apple computer I managed 12 technicians that worked directly for me from 1989-1991.
- At Silicon Graphics I was the Account Manager from 1991-1992 until my hire in 1992. Starting from 2 people, I had 30 technicians working for me at this location within 60 days. We maintained 20 buildings in the Mt. View area.
Telecom/Network Engineer: Apex Communications Inc., (Privately Held) Mt. View, CA (1985-1989)
This is the first company I worked for in the data and telecommunications field. I started as a cable installer and advanced rapidly to Lead Technician. I attended numerous courses to become certified on electronic key telephone systems and became very proficient at installation and troubleshooting.
- I was lead technician on many large scale installations that set-up entire buildings with wiring.
- Worked primarily at HP Cupertino and HP Corporate in Palo Alto doing trouble shooting, moves and changes.
- Assisted in converting HP from time shared RS232 networking to new Thick Ethernet Technology.
- Assisted in converting HP Corporate from antiquated 1A2 Key Telephone system to state of the art Nortel switch.
